Formula 1 monitoring Typhoon Hagibis ahead of Japanese GP

Formula 1 officials say that they areclosely monitoring Typhoon Hagibis and its possible effect on the Japanese GP, together with modifications to the weekend schedule a possibility.
The typhoon is made to hit Japans east coast on Saturday and two Rugby World Cup matches that afternoon — New Zealand vs Italy and England vs France — have been cancelled since the country braces itself for winds and rain.

Last qualifying and practice for the Japanese GP are expected to take place on Saturday at Suzuka, also F1 says it is attempting tominimise disturbance to the schedule amid concerns about the storm.
The FIA, Formula 1, Suzuka Circuit and the Japanese Automobile Federation are carefully monitoring Typhoon Hagibis and its possible impact on the 2019 FIA Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix, an F1 statement read.
Every effort has been made to minimise disturbance to the Formula 1 timetable, no matter how the safety of the fans, competitors and everybody else at the Suzuka Circuit remains the top priority.
All parties can continue to monitor the situation and supply further updates in due course.
One potential alteration to this schedule would be moving to Sunday before the race, although no provision has yet been put in the event of the typhoon causing disturbance.
Qualifying was postponed until the Sunday twice earlier in Japan in 2010 and 2004, due to typhoons.
Suzuka is further inland than Toyota and Tokyo — had been due to occur, where the cancelled Rugby World Cup matches — but predictions predict poor weather on Saturday before an advancement on Sunday.
