Patrick Mahomes shedding ‘baby fat’ in offseason

Offseason tales about NFL players shedding weight are old-hat, tropey narratives. Most times they need to do with an over-heavy lineman shedding extra pounds or a running back getting back into shape to salvage his or her career.
Normally you don’t hear a reigning MVP-winning quarterback with a rifle-rocket arm and squealy athleticism discuss getting into shape.
Patrick Mahomes isn’t your MVP. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback told Terez Paylor of Yahoo Sports on shedding body fat this offseason, he is focused.
??? Team fits for best remaining FAs
??? Ranking deepest place groups
??? NFL triplets rankings: Who’s No. 1?
??? NFC West primer: Camp queries ??? Rank: Could Redskins surprise?
«I have gotten more muscular and [have] less baby fat, I guess you would say,» Mahomes advised Paylor. «So that’s been the big factor for me — sculpting my own body in the best way possible so that I could go through the entire year and feel as fresh at the end as I did in the start.»
Mahomes tweaked his work outs to moisturize muscle while shedding the fat that was unwanted.
«For me personally, offseason-training wise, it’s about trying to specify [my body]… trying to make sure I’m in the best shape possible, emotionally and emotionally and emotionally,» Mahomes said. «So the big thing for me this offseason going in was, I always wanted to gain muscle but in the exact same time, cut weight. Kind of a mixture of both.»
Mahomes’ goal is to shed three to 5 percent body fat by the time training camp opens.
«The cheapest I was last year after training camp was 12 percent, and that’s very great,» Mahomes said. «But my objective is to maintain the single digits, so I’m gonna attempt to get as low as possible while still being healthy and still having the body to be able to take a complete season.»
After Mahomes tossed for 5,097 yards and 50 TDs to win the MVP trophy in his first full season as a rookie, most analysts project that the K.C. QB to return to the earth in 2019. Mahomes is currently working to ensure he stays among the stars that are bright.
