That is the 2019 NFL season’s complete Sunday from the books and, like always, it served up lots of talking points. Here are my views about the big storylines and performances.
For months we’ve eagerly awaited the unveiling of a Cleveland Browns team filled with superstars such as quarterback Baker Mayfield, recipients Odell Beckham Jr. along with Jarvis Landry; along with defensive stud Myles Garrett. The Tennessee Titans — their opponents — weren’t designed to fly to make up the amounts and were supposed to be a mere after-thought.
However, the visitors won and handily by a 43-13 scoreline. A Titans defense that recorded five sacks and 3 interceptions stifled the Browns. However, what was worrying was that Cleveland did as much to beat themselves, committing a shocking 18 penalties. New head trainer Freddie Kitchens has a big week to get his group — which still needs to learn how to win consistently and with discipline — straightened out
NBC Sports’ Peter King joined our policy at halftime of our second match on Sunday and informed me Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson did hardly any running through training camp. Bear in mind, 2018 Jackson rushed an average of 17 times a game while just throwing in the region of either 21 or 22 passes. His departure left much to be desired as a rookie but not on Sunday night.
At a shellacking of the Miami Dolphins that were terrible, Lamar struck 17 of 20 tries for 324 yards and five touchdowns. We need to see more since the Dolphins might just be the worst team in the league although it turned out to be a spectacular showing. It had been easy for the Ravens that copy passer Robert Griffin III came from the seat and went six of six.
The Kyler Murray experience did not seem like being a good one just like stubbing their toe from the Detroit 25, because the Arizona Cardinals appeared. Murray fought from the early going — by finishing only seven 18 passes for 49 yards and one interception, he opened.
The took three sacks as the Lions took control of this match. But he awakened at the fourth quarter and balled out since the Detroit and Cardinals played. The Cardinals are, by no way, currently going for a quick fix but there is definitely hope for the future given the way their rookie quarterback awakened and improved his performance with the match at stake.
There has been some gnashing of teeth when it has to do with the Indianapolis Colts and the Los Angeles Chargers. The Colts lost celebrity quarterback Andrew Luck to retirement prior to the start of the season along with the Chargers went to the year without banged-up safety Derwin James hurt tackle Russell Okung along with holdout running Melvin Gordon.
Since the Chargers emerged as 30-24 winners in overtime, courtesy of 3 Austin Ekeler 22, both teams played well on Sunday. Because he subs for his backfield 12, ekeler is busting Gordon leverage. I believe they demonstrated that they’re capable of becoming playoff contenders this year while neither team was perfect.
There were just two observations which could be produced regarding the Dallas Cowboys crime. One was much of this attack was predictable and paled into comparison such as the Los Angeles Rams, New Orleans and Kansas City.
Another was that most of the offense would, quite rightly, run through celebrity rusher Ezekiel Elliott. However, during Sunday’s 35-17 thrashing of the New York Giants, it had been the Dak Prescott series because the quarterback threw for 405 yards and four touchdowns. New offensive coordinator Kellen Moore dialed up a game plan that was fantastic, which makes the Dallas crime one worth tracking closely at the coming months.
No Hall of Fame tight end Rob Gronkowski? No starting? No issue for a New England Patriots team that invented against the Pittsburgh Steelers 33-3 on Sunday. This one was never a competition and the Steelers, dare I say it, seemed like they were overlooking stars that were bothered and departed Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell.
Running back James Conner carried 10 times for 21 yards against a dominant New England defense, whilst JuJu Smith-Schuster had six catches for 78 yards. The Pats 42-year-old quarterback Tom Brady sublime and were both imperious. He threw for 341 yards and three touchdowns and the wealthy are about to get wealthier. Like it or not, Antonio Brown is on his way into Foxboro. I am writing my opening Patriots hyperlinks for the Super Bowl at Miami today to get in front of the game!
