Preston 5-1 Barnsley: North End thump Tykes to go third

Daniel Johnson produced a fantastic performance as Preston moved up to third in the Championship in Deepdale with a 5-1 thrashing of Barnsley.
Johnson claimed as a first-half equaliser was shrugged off by the hosts with a second-half screen that had the hallmarks of a side bang out of Cameron McGeehan two assists and scored two.
Tom Barkhuizen, Ben Pearson and Josh Harrop were also on target for North End.
With Johnson pulling the off and the strings apart with amazing possession the order of this day, Preston started the process of breaking down the stubborn Barnsley defence.
The Jamaican dribbled his way into the penalty area before shooting at Brad Collins who parried into Sean Maguire, who fluffed the rebound.
Ten minutes afterwards Maguire squandered an even better opportunity if Johnsons low cross in distance 12 metres out, however the shot was saved by Collins along together with his toes.
A Joe Rafferty cross was headed by the David Nugent and there was an inevitability about North Ends opener.

From then on it had been traffic. With an hour it was Johnson who ran onto a ball over the top from Paul Gallagher before the most adorable of endings extended Prestons lead.
With the floodgates well and really open and three minutes later, Barkhuizen wrapped a pinpoint ball across the area that was fulfilled by Pearson at the stick and stretched his legs down the left.
Once Johnsons harrying watched the ball to substitute Harrop who chased it over the line and raised the ball 24, A afternoon for Barnsley was closed.
